FAQs

We’ve identified a few queries which our users commonly send us. Please have a read through and see if we can resolve your issue without you even needing to type a word:

  • If the video feed window appears frozen or blank, click the eye twice. Once to deactivate PecoBOO and again to restart the video stream.
  • Depending on the order in which applications are launched in your system startup, you may be prompted to select the video source in your webcam driver software when PecoBOO launches.
  • PecoBOO’s sensitivity and accuracy is limited by the quality of the video feed which your webcam captures. PecoBOO needs a reasonable level of contrast to detect your face. Conditions which may adversely affect PecoBOO’s performance are:
    • Dark environments.
    • Bright light behind you, which can cause exposure correction by your webcam, therefore dimming your face in the foreground.
    • Reflections from bright light in front of you on glasses can hamper PecoBOO’s face detection.
  • To get the best from PecoBOO, adjust your environment and camera setting to optimise the video feed:
    • The best light is offset from 45 degrees in front of your face, with little or no backlight behind you.
    • If your webcam allows image controls, tweak the settings to provide light boost and higher contrast.
